Former Aspen High School star desperately seeks to join LPGA Tour
Former Aspen High School star Kristin Walla is eyeing a spot in the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, as she has said that she is focusing on the Symetra Tour to prove her worth.
Walla is an avid golfer from Colorado and has been in the headlines for the last few months. Walla is among the three other Coloradans who are looking to find a place in the LPGA Tour.
The other three players seeking to prove their mettle on the LPGA Tour are Ashley Tait, Kelly Jacques and Dawn Shockley.
Analysts said that the Coloradan stars are confident enough to do their best on the Symetra Tour, which will help them gain the spotlight and more media coverage.
Speaking to the media about her goals for the LPGA Tour, Walla said that she does not believe that finding a place in the Tour is an uphill task. She said that she has what it takes to move ahead.
Walla said that avoiding bogeys is all that helps players gain attention on the course. She said that birdies play a pivotal role in making or breaking a player’s profile.
Walla has been training hard on the practice range, which has helped her fix the lapse in her putting.
Sharing her experience about how difficult it is to make birdies in tough situations, the Aspen High School star said that scoring under par has always been challenging for her, which makes sense.
"If it was (easy), it would be boring," Walla said.
Since Walla has been following a tight schedule to prepare herself for the big stage, she has been a bit troubled as to how to manage time for job and issues other than golf.
She is travelling a great deal these days, moving back and forth between her hometown and match venues.
Walla said that she is spending a great deal of money on her traveling and other activities related to golf, which is keeping her from paying full attention to the sport.
She said that she is seeking to get a sponsor to put an end to her financial woes. Walla said that spending $28,000 to $30,000 on travelling is difficult for her.
"I'll be relying on playing well and, hopefully, some sponsors to keep me afloat," she said.
