Former Aston Villa manager, Gerard Houllier, has hailed Darren Bent’s impact at the Villa Park and has asserted that the English striker will play a huge role in Alex McLeish’s squad in the upcoming Barclays Premier League season.
Houllier signed Bent from Sunderland for a club record transfer fee of £24 million. The Frenchman believes that his signing will bring fruitful results at Aston Villa in the years to come.
The former Aston Villa manager also stated that Bent is a player every manager dreams off and sees the English striker as a crucial member of Alex McLeish’s squad for next season.
Houllier hailed Bent’s impressive goalscoring ratio and has claimed that the English striker will be more effective next season.
“Bent’s goal ratio speaks for itself and he’s a good man too. I think he will improve because he listens. If you give him a few tips and a few details he’ll try to get on to that.” He said.
