Former Aston Villa striker Dion Dublin hails Alex McLeish’s brave switch – EPL News
Former Aston Villa attacker, Dion Dublin, has backed the appointment of the former Birmingham City manager, Alex McLeish, at the Villa Park and believes that the 52-year-old Scot made a brave move in joining the Lions.
McLeish’s appointment as the Aston Villa boss was officially confirmed last Friday, just five days after the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 boss resigned from the similar post at the Villa’s arch rivals, Birmingham City. A number of managers with extensive English Premier
League experience were available but Aston Villa owner, Randy Lerner, decided to land http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 McLeish from Birmingham City.
McLeish’s appointed left Aston Villa fans fuming with anger who also protested in front of the Villa Park against the Scot’s arrival.
However, Dion Dublin wants the Villa supports to give a chance to their new manager and believes that the Scot made a brave move to Aston Villa.
“The word that comes to mind is brave. Brave on Aston Villa's part for taking a rival manager on, and as for the manager, I think it is one of the bravest things I've ever seen,” said the former English attacker.
The former Aston Villa attacker believes that McLeish has the quality required to shine at Villa Park and feels that it would not be long before he wins over the Villa fans.
Dublin reckons that Alex McLeish should now quickly turn his attention to Aston Villa’s squad rebuilding process.
“I think it's really important he gets the club stable early on and gets the backbone of the team sorted out. I'm sure he's already got an idea of who he wants to bring in,” added, Dublin.
The Villans lost their experienced goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813 and Stewart
Downing both are being heavily linked with moves away from Villa Park.
However, McLeish is reportedly interested in bringing Birmingham City’s highly talented goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445, to replace Brad Friedel. Along with Foster, Scott Dan is also tipped to join his former boss at Aston Villa.  Moreover, the Villans are also interested
in Blackpool’ highly-rated skipper, Charlie Adam.
