The Australians are on the verge of losing the Ashes at home, and it would be a huge disappointment to see Ricky Ponting losing his Third ashes series as captain.
Australia, apart from the first innings of the first Test, have not been able to perform well in the series so far and have found it difficult to control the dominance of the English players in the series.
England have shown a great fighting attitude in the series so far, and have exploited all the weak areas of the Aussies. This shows their consistency as a team that they have carried their form of year or so into this series and have applied all their energies
into this series.

is lacking in general. Their bowling has lacked the punch, and they found it difficult to dismiss the English batsmen in the second Test match. There was no threatening stuff from their bowlers in the Adelaide Test.

in the Aussie line-up.
Former Australian wicketkeeper, Steve Rixon has said that the current Australian performance in the Ashes series is unacceptable. Rixon was of the view that Australia have become spoilt and things have been too easy for them in the past.

In past two years, Australia have lost number of series against different sides which shows they are not that competitive any more. Until 2006-07, they had a number of players in the team who were star performers and always carried them to safety from a
difficult situation. The current line-up carries this psyche, and thinks victories can come to them as easy as they used to come early on. Rixon added that Australian cricket needs a summit, and they need to look at their brand of cricket in each format.
