The former stumper Rodney Marsh is under consideration as a replacement of Andrew Hilditch, for the post of Cricket Australia’s chief selector.
The news for Marsh to be Hilditch’s possible successor started floating around after the former wicket-keeper batsman had a meeting with CA’s general manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Brown-c75791.
Andrew Hilditch was appointed as Australia’s chairman of selectors in April 2006, replacing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mal-Loye-c1879 had been taking everything smoothly, until the issue of Ashes’ defeat followed by Simon Katich’s axing erupted.
Hilditch was highly criticised for the axing decision of Katich and was blamed to be influenced by the new Australian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Ian-Coleridge-Clarke-c75959. The chairman was surrounded by problems when CA had to intervene and supported him for the decision taken.
Cricket Australia formulated a review committee to look into the matter, and declared that Hilditch will remain the Chairman of selectors until the review reports come.
Hilditch’s contract had ended in April but CA declared that he would continue till August, 2011.
The former Australian opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Jonathon-Slater-c76070 said, "The first thing they should be reviewing is the selectors and the selection process and I'd start with the chairman of selectors (Hilditch)."
Michael Slater was the batsman axed earlier then Katich. He alleged the whole selection system to be unfair and questioned its transparency.
On the other hand, Rodney spoke about his meeting with the CA’s GM and said, "We talked all things cricket but there is a review going on at the moment so obviously nothing is going to come of anything until after the review."
Rodney had been working as the director of coaching at the elite http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Global Cricket Academy in Dubai. Once blamed for the non-serious approach towards cricket, Rodney is now in line to become CA’s new chairman of selectors.
Rodney is passionate about cricket and loves his job. He does not want to part from it and said, “I am not ready to give it all up, I am pretty keen to be still involved in cricket in one way or another.”
Talking to a newspaper “Perth Now”, Marsh said that he loves being around good players and enjoys guiding them and improving their skills. He believes his job to very interesting and is determined to continue in the field of cricket.
