Former Bayer Leverkusen manager Klaus Toppmoller has predicted a second place finish for Werkself in the Bundesliga at the end of the season. He claimed that there is immense potential in the squad but admitted that the side lacks
quality in defence, which has been the reason for some of the poor results in the current campaign.
Werkself have started the season with a new manager Robin Dutt and it has been a series of mixed results so far. The team has won four of the eight matches played in the league so far and accumulated 13 points, occupying the ninth
place on the standings table currently.
Toppmoller claimed that Bernd Leno has been a revelation since he has joined on-loan from Stuttgart in the summer and has surely filled in the void left by the injury to Rene Adler at the start of the season. He hailed the young
shot stopper and stated that his performances have been heavily impressive since the start to the campaign.

Toppmoller added that the side has numerous attacking options with the likes of Eren Derdiyok and Stefan Kiessling and a very experienced midfield also. But the German admitted that the problem lies in the defence.
