Former Bayer Leverkusen manager Klaus Toppmoller predicts a second place finish- Bundesliga news
Former Bayer Leverkusen manager Klaus Toppmoller has predicted a second place finish for Werkself in the Bundesliga at the end of the season. He claimed that there is immense potential in the squad but admitted that the side lacks
quality in defence, which has been the reason for some of the poor results in the current campaign.
Werkself have started the season with a new manager Robin Dutt and it has been a series of mixed results so far. The team has won four of the eight matches played in the league so far and accumulated 13 points, occupying the ninth
place on the standings table currently.
Toppmoller claimed that Bernd Leno has been a revelation since he has joined on-loan from Stuttgart in the summer and has surely filled in the void left by the injury to Rene Adler at the start of the season. He hailed the young
shot stopper and stated that his performances have been heavily impressive since the start to the campaign.
The former Hamburg and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Georgia-c2903 manager added that he expects Bayer Leverkusen to finish in the top-four at the end of the season but insisted that Bayern Munich will surely win the league this term.
“Rene Adler is missing, of course. But Leno is a fantastic goalkeeper. He must surely still collect his experiences, still makes the odd mistake, but overall played very, very good. In http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 we have the happiness of so many extremely
strong goalkeeper, and there is certainly Leno also. I believe that they end up in 2nd place behind Bayern,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Toppmoller added that the side has numerous attacking options with the likes of Eren Derdiyok and Stefan Kiessling and a very experienced midfield also. But the German admitted that the problem lies in the defence.
“I find Eren Derdiyok sensationally well and also Stefan Kiessling. To get as many dangerous midfielders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gonzalo-Castro-c15105,” he concluded.
Klaus Toppmoller guided Bayer Leverkusen to the final of the Champions League in 2002.
