Former Bayern Munich defender Paul http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Breitner-c8032 hails Barcelona and admits Bayern have a long way to go
Former Bayern Munich defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 as the best team in the world and admitted that Bayern still have a long way to go to reach that level. He stated that the Catalans play some awesome football and
it will be very difficult to stop the current European champions considering the form they are in.
Barcelona won the UEFA Champions League last season for the second time in three years by defeating English giants Manchester United in the final. The Spanish giants also won the La Liga last term for the third time in a row and
were denied the treble as they lost in the Copa del Rey final to rivals Real Madrid.
Breitner insisted that Barcelona is the best team in the world and their performances are an inspiration for all the clubs. He stated that they play football out of this world and will again be the favourites to lift the European
crown and defend their title.
“It's impossible to defeat Barcelona if they play at 85 per cent of their abilities. You simply don't have a chance against them. They play football that's different to anything else out there in the world,” he was quoted as saying
in an interview.
The former West http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international added that Bayern have improved their squad in this summer’s transfer window by signing some great players but insisted that it will still take the club some time to be back to the top in Europe.
He praised the likes of Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 and was confident that the Bavarians will be able to close the gap at the top.
“Bayern have a squad that's still improving. They will continue to get better over the next four to five years and close the gap with Barcelona. However, I can only repeat that Barcelona will continue to dominate as long as Messi,
Xavi and Iniesta are around,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich finished third in the Bundesliga last year so they will have to play the qualifying round in order to progress to the group stages of the Champions League.
