Former Bayern Munich defender Samuel Kuffour feels proud to be a shoe-shine boy
The former Bayern Munich and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 international, Samuel Osei Kuffour, has revealed his childhood profession of being a shoe-shine boy. The ex-defender was talking ahead of his farewell game on the 23rd of December in Ghana.
Kuffour told that he feels proud to be a shoe-shine boy and there is no harm in adapting to adapt that profession until you are earning honestly.
He added that he never intended to adapt it as a profession but there were some personal issues which forced him into becoming a shoe shiner. He admitted to being too poor to even buy himself a pair of football shoes despite having passion for the game at
a very young age.
While talking to reporters inside his huge mansion at East Legon, Kuffour further enthused:
“Being a shoe shine boy is not a crime. I’m very proud of it. There are a lot of hawkers on the street and these are the future President, Ministers and whatever so I’m glad to be a shoe shine boy from the beginning.”
He also stated, “The Lord said that the beginning is not important but the end is more important so for me, I’m glad that the Lord has blessed me and I am in a good condition today”.
The Ghanaian international showed gratitude to the local club, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/King-Faisal-Babes-c39714, for acknowledging his talent and providing him with a platform to make a name for himself.
After spending a year with the Babes, the 35-year-old joined Torino’s youth system and made a significant breakthrough in 1993, when he signed for the German champions, Bayern Munich.
The former defender opined that it was his honesty reaping fruits for him at early stage of his career. He also thought that his selection for Bayern opened international doors on him and considered himself lucky to have represented his country for more
than a decade.
Samuel parted ways with the Bavarian giants after spending 12 years at Allianz-Arena. During that time, the player made 175 league appearances, bagging seven goals during the process. He made his Ghana debut in 1993 and earned 59 caps, scoring three goals
in return.
