Former Bayern Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfeld delighted with the club’s summer transfer activity
Former Bayern Munich manager Ottmar Hitzfeld has expressed his delight on the club’s transfer activity this summer. He stated that he is satisfied with the club’s acquisitions in this transfer window and tipped the Bavarians to have a sensational season ahead.
The tactician admitted that Jupp Heynckes has made sure he strengthened the defence which was the main problem in the previous campaign as Die Bayern conceded 40 goals in 34 matches.
The former German champions had a shaky defence and conceded goals in crucial matches. Bayern’s departure from the Champions League after a shocking performance in the second-leg of the knock-out stage could be credited mainly to the back four.
Hitzfeld praised manager Jupp Heynckes for his work with the team and his transfers. He claimed that Heynckes knew that Bayern’s problem last season was not scoring goals but it was the goals they conceded which is why he has strengthened the back line. He was happy that the Bavarian giants had spent money to but stronger defensive players as they have a great attack force.
“I believe that with Heynckes the balance between offense and defence will be restored. That did not work last season. Since you have conceded too many hits, there will be no more total offensive. This cannot go well,” Ottmar was quoted as saying in an interview.
Hitzfeld praised Bayern’s acquisitions and regarded http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424 as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He insisted that Jerome Boateng would surely turn out to be a successful signing as he has the ability and talent and admitted that Rafinha’s former experience with Schalke in the Bundesliga will be vital.
“New one came with the world's best goalkeepers. Boateng is a great talent. He must constantly bring solid performance. Rafinha was also a very good transfer. The automation in the defence will still take time. But it will happen,” the manager concluded.
Ottmar Hitzfeld manager Bayern Munich in two stints from 1998-2004 and in the 2007-08 season. He guided the club to a UEFA Champions League success in 2001, five Bundesliga titles, three German Cups and four DFB Ligapokal titles.
