Former Blues first-team assistant Ray Wilkins certain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 will leave Spurs for Chelsea
The former Chelsea first-team assistant Ray Wilkins revealed he believed it was only a matter of time before the Blues secured the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric. The 25-year-old Croatian midfielder has been linked with a move to Stamford
Bridge but Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is determined not to let his prized midfielder leave the club.
However, Wilkins was certain it was only a matter of time before Chelsea convinced Tottenham Hotspur to sell Modric. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 made an initial bid of £22 million was rejected by an angry Redknapp, who claimed the versatile midfielder was worth much more than
that. Chelsea are reported to be preparing an improved bid.
Even after the appointment of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss Andre Villas-Boas as the new Chelsea manager, the Blues have yet to make any new signings. This comes as a surprise, seeing as most of the other Premier League sides have brought in quite a few players.
For example, Sunderland have already signed eight players and are planning to spend further.
Wilkins insisted there was no need to be alarmed and that the Blues would start bringing in new players soon. Chelsea have been linked with top players, the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436.
However, the Blues have not yet made an official offer for any of the players mentioned above.
The former Chelsea player was certain the London side would begin bringing in new players,  Wilkins said while speaking to reporters:
“I don't think it'll be too long before Chelsea start dipping into the [transfer] market.
There will be some big names coming in and there will probably be a few disappearing as well.”
Wilkins was certain the Blues would do their best to secure the signature of the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, especially with the wide spread belief that Modric was the key to unlocking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707’ goals. If that is indeed the case, then an improved
bid can be expected along with the Croatian moving to Stamford Bridge.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the January transfer window for a record breaking transfer fee of £50 million. However, the 27-year-old has only scored just one goal for the Blues since joining the London side. Instead of blaming the striker
for his inability to find the back of the net, the management at Chelsea has identified the existing midfield as the problem.
This is exactly why Chelsea are determined to bring in Modric, who has proved to be an excellent midfielder. Apart from the ability of being able to play anywhere in midfield, Modric is overall an excellent player. While he does not necessarily excel at
scoring goals, he has proved to be an excellent provider.
Chelsea believe they can benefit greatly from the midfielder, which is exactly why they will do everything they can to bring him to the Bridge. The former Chelsea first-team assistant coach continued:
“I think it will be extremely difficult for Tottenham to hold on to Modric if you look at the numbers being thrown around.
Modric is wonderfully talented but football is a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 of work and if someone offers more money to go elsewhere, no matter what business or what vocation they have in life, they will leave and go for something better.”
