Former Boston Celtics star Jeff Green is 100 percent fit to play: Agent David Falk – NBA Update
Jeff Green’s agent David Falk has assured fans and NBA executives that the former Boston Celtics forward is now 100 percent healthy and ready to return to the NBA. The forward has been out of action for over a year.
The Boston Celtics acquired the services of Jeff Green at the trade deadline of the 2010-2011 NBA season. In the following summer Green was diagnosed with a heart condition that required him to go under the knife and miss out on a complete year of basketball.
The condition was pretty serious and if it remained undetected, could even have been fatal. However once Boston’s doctors caught it, there was never any doubt that Green would be able to play basketball again. David Falk is now negotiating with the Boston
Celtics for a new contract for Jeff, and believes his client is in top shape already.
“He’s been 100 percent cleared,” said Falk. “He’s playing 5-on-5 basketball. He’s not quite yet in Jeff Green shape. Jeff is a physical marvel. He’s about 4 percent body fat.”
What Green would take out from the injury, according to Falk, is a renewed sense of purpose. David fully expects Green to be more aggressive, more assertive when on the court as it would pretty much be a second chance at basketball.
“But in Jeff’s case, the experience he went through will be a life-changing experience. If I had one criticism of Jeff Green his first four years in the NBA, it’s that he wasn’t assertive enough — that he was too much of a purist, too unselfish. And having
something that he loves almost taken away from him, he’s going to come back next year with a sense of urgency that people haven’t seen from him. “
Danny Ainge, the Boston Celtics President, is pretty confident he can re-sign the player and even more confident that Green can help the team along. When he was originally brought in, it was rumoured that Ainge and company viewed him as the long time successor
of Paul Pierce.
If he can be anywhere near the player Paul Pierce has been for Boston over the years, it would be a great pickup for the Celtics.
