Former Broomfield High School wrestling coach Travis Masse accused of child abuse
Former wrestling coach of Broomfield High School, Travis Masse was found to be involved in illicit activities with a high school student. He even gifted the girl with a set of handcuffs and a pair of pink panties on Valentine’s Day.
It all started when the student was 17 years old and was seduced by Masse during her sociology and history classes. She was also the manager of her wrestling team and Travis Masse was her academics teacher as well. The girl, whose name hasn't been disclosed,
is now married and lives in Florida, US.
The victim told prosecutors that she had never done homework in Masse's class but was always given an ‘A’ grade. The reason she cited was her hidden relationship with Masse. The anonymous girl decided to report the matter to the police because she thought
his wife was being betrayed. Masse’s wife was her mathematics teacher and softball team coach.
Pamela Mackey, who is a lawyer for the accused, said that the girl will be cross-examined. She said that Masse was an award-winning coach and a young father and he had no sort of physical relationship. However, Mackey did admit that Masse sent the girl some
vulgar text messages.
It is being reported that Masse used to prey on immature and helpless girls at school. The accused had resigned from the Broomfield High School in February 2010.
Masse is scheduled for another trial on May 23. He has been convicted of having an illegal relationship with a child, which is a felony of class five.
Lisa Hunt, the prosecutor, stated that Masse took advantage of the girl and blackmailed her, because he used to coach her step-brothers as well. He prepared the girl for the illegitimate act before she had reached her high school.
Hunt said that the physical relation got to such an extent that Masse slept with the girl in a hotel room while the wrestling team was on a trip to Florida.
