Former Buffalo Bills’ DT Marcus Stroud keen on 2012 return, in search for new team-NFL News
Having missed the entire 2011 National Football League (NFL) season due to a shoulder injury, former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars’ defensive tackle, Marcus Stroud, aims for return to the game this season.
As of the latest, the player has reported full recovery from the injury and is hundred per cent about his health and fitness, looking to explore an opportunity for joining any team around the league off the free agency.
Stroud, who had moved out of Bills to join the New England Patriots before start of the past regular season, was unable to play or practise with the team throughout the season, due to the problem.
He said:
"I'm feeling healthy and everything and I want to see if I can give it one more chance. If I can, I can; if I can't, I'm satisfied, too."
The player had to have a surgery on the shoulder before start of the season and given the extend amount of time he had needed for the recovery, Patriots relieved him from the contract.
He explained the situation, saying he needed rest because of the health problems, which were started with the shoulder injury and surgery but later added by a fight against a staph infection.
Following termination of his deal with Patriots last year, he has now made himself available on the unrestricted free agency.
It is not clear which side the player will be heading to, as he himself has not expressed a desire of joining any team around the league and no team has come up with an interest for the player.
Stroud played for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2001 to 2007 successively and from 2008 to 2010 for Buffalo Bills. He was unable to honour his contract with Patriots, signed just before occurrence of his shoulder problem.
According to him:
"If somebody's willing to give me a call, I definitely want to get in and show what I can do.”
The defensive tackle, who is fast approaching to maturity of his career, maintains the record of 424 tackles, 8 forced fumbles and 29.5 sacks, he has been able to make during 10 years of his professional career.
Although it is difficult to ascertain to mark a team as to be his potential future destination, a possibility for him to rejoin Jaguars or Bills is there.
Jaguars are in rebuilding phase following departure of former owner and some of front office officials as well as head coach and it could be a good opportunity for the player to earn a call from the management.
Stroud has not hinted if he was exploring the opportunity of rejoining Jaguars or may be Bills.
