Former Chelsea FC coach Raymond Wilkins seeks legal advice following his sacking
Ex-Chelsea FC assistant manager Raymond Wilkins is seeking legal advice in the wake of his sacking from the club. Ray left Stamford Bridge on 11th November after Chelsea refused to offer him a renewed contract and revealed
that he had no further part to play for the club.
For people who had been professionally affiliated with Ray, the news of his sacking came as a bit of a shock, mainly because the club enjoyed huge success during his time. Chelsea won back to back FA cups in 2008 and 2009 and clinched
the English Premier League crown in May 2010 as well.
Ray broke his silence on the matter for the first time since his departure from Stamford Bridge. Wilkins termed his axing as “undoubtedly unfair” and revealed that he has sought legal advice for some “unanswered questions” that
arise from the aftermath of his firing.
He said, "I am very disappointed that the board decided that I had no further contribution to make at Chelsea Football Club which has played such a huge part in my life. Since rejoining the club, I am extremely proud to have assisted
in Chelsea's recent successes. I enjoyed a fantastic relationship with the staff, players and the supporters and I now wish them all the very best for the future. The LMA's legal advisors are assisting me in obtaining answers to a number of questions arising
from my undoubtedly unfair dismissal, and all efforts are being made to reach an amicable solution. I therefore will be making no further comment at this stage."
Meanwhile Chelsea promoted their head opposition scout Michael Emenalo to assistant 1st team coach. The club announced Michael’s promotion as “a recognition of his efforts”.
On the other hand, Blues head coach, Carlo Ancelotti has taken a diplomatic stance about the matter and said that he did not have a say in the recent decisions made in the managerial setup of the club.
Carlo said, “I am not here to explain how I feel at the moment, because it is not the right moment. I'm professional, I will continue to work. I want to stay focused on my team. The club made this decision to promote Emenalo after
the decision on Ray. But nothing changes. It was not my decision, but he is working with me for a year and a half anyway. He won't be involved in the training sessions.”
It is believed Michael Emenalo will be partnering Ancelotti on the side-lines in the future, starting from Chelsea’s fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday.
