Former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti reveals he wishes to manage an EPL side
Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti was sacked by English Premier League side Chelsea last night after the 1-0 defeat to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 at Goodison Park in the last fixture of the season.
The fact that he was sacked did not come as too big a surprise to anyone; it was the manner in which it was done.
Just minutes after the final whistle at Goodison Park, which signaled the end of the current season, Ancelotti was told that he was no longer manager of the Blues.
The former AC Milan manager then travelled back to London with the squad, where he said his goodbyes to the players and staff.
Ancelotti was reported to have said, “I received the news of my sacking before the flight. I accept and I respect Chelsea's decision. I spent two fantastic years in this club. I think I did a good http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and in Premier League.”
Having failed to lead the Blues to any silverware in his second season at the club, Ancelotti was never expected to be allowed to remain at Stamford Bridge.
However, there was always some hope because it was Carlo Ancelotti who led Chelsea to their first ever domestic double in his first season at the club.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 won the English Premier League and the FA Cup in the 2009-2010 season for the first time in their history as they finished a highly successful term.
Unfortunately, Ancelotti failed to recreate his success in his second season with the London club which saw them suffer their worst slump in over 15 years.
Not only were they eliminated from the Carling Cup and FA Cup competitions early on, the Blues dropped from the top four in the English Premier League table.
From being 15 points behind league leaders Manchester United in March, they made a late surge to emerge as title contenders with just three games remaining.
A victory at the trip to Old Trafford to take on the Red Devils, who were just three points ahead at that point, could have changed Chelsea’s season and Ancelotti’s future.
The Blues suffered a 2-1 defeat, which resigned them to a trophy less season, something Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich does not handle too well.
The Russian billionaire has a big wallet and an even bigger intolerance for failure, if you can call this season that.
In terms of trophies the season was a failure, but in terms of the fight and willpower displayed by the Blues, this season was a success.
Chelsea finish the season at second place on the Premier League table, after being reduced to fight for a top four finish earlier on in the season.
They have successfully qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season and now begin the search for their next manager.
Ancelotti is being targeted by Serie A side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, but the 51-year-old revealed he wished to remain in England.
