Former Chelsea centre-back, Michael Mancienne, has expressed delight on his move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485. He stated that he is ready for the new challenge in his career and wants to grab the opportunity to play at the highest level. The defender was amongst the
three players Hamburg has bought from the Londoners this summer with Jacopo Sala and Gokhan Tore being the other two.
Mancienne was unable to cement his place in the Chelsea squad despite emerging as one of the best talents in English football. The player’s move to Hamburg comes after repeated loan spells at Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the past few
years.
The defender admitted that he wanted to play for his boyhood club Chelsea but it was very hard to get in to the first team with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 present in the squad.
“I would loved to have played at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 - I'd grown up there. I was there since I was eight but it's a difficult club to break through,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The player, who is currently captaining the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Denmark-c2884 for the European Championships, admits it will be a new challenge to play in the German Bundesliga next season and is excited about playing regular first team football with a top
side.
“I think it'll have a great benefit. It's a new challenge for me and to play for a big team such as Hamburg and to be playing week in, week out. I'm really honoured to go there and really looking forward to the challenge,” he continued.
The 23-year-old said that he had a few options but Hamburg was the best of them all and he wants to make full use of the opportunity this time around.
“I saw it as a massive opportunity to go abroad and to play in the German league, so I'm really excited by it. I did have a few other options, but I saw Hamburg as my biggest option,” he concluded.
Michael Mancienne made only four appearances for Chelsea in his five years at the club.
