Former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle believes axing Carlo Ancelotti does not make sense: EPL News
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager and mid-fielder, Glenn Hoddle, has backed the under-fire club manager, Carlo Ancelotti, and believes that axing the Italian would dismantle the London club.
The Blues are expecting a trophy-less 2010-11 season, as they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals against Manchester United recently. With only seven matches left to play, Chelsea drift Premier League leaders, United by 11 points
and have also been knocked out of the FA Cup.
Hoddle added that Ancelotti won them the English Premier League and FA Cup in the previous season and it is harsh to criticise him for just one bad season.
Speaking to the reporters, Hoddle said, "Carlo won the double last year and he hasn't done as well this year, it is pretty simple.  I think in football you need to get a balance. If you don't look at a balance you can make a mistake. “
“He has had a really fantastic season and he has had one where obviously the owner [Roman Abramovich] wants to win the Champions League and it has not happened.”
The 53-year-old added that Ancelotti definitely deserves another season if not two. The former mid-fielder added that the Blues have a good blend of youth and experience in their squad and will look like a different unit in the 2011-12 season.
He added that any plans to replace the former AC Milan manager would be detrimental for the club’s future. The Italian has proved that he can be a success in England and he has the pedigree of winning the Champions League.
"Carlo should be given time. He has already proved he can be successful. The double is not an easy thing to do in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749.”
Ancelotti received huge criticism for playing the GBP50 million flop, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044, in the second leg of Champions League against United. Drogba later came on as a substitute and added
spark to the game by scoring an equalising goal in the match and many people believe that the result could have been different had he started the match.
