Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho reiterates his love for English football - and Sir Alex Ferguson
Jose Mourinho, who led Chelsea to two consecutive championship titles in 2005 and 2006, has reiterated his desire to return to England one day.
The 47-year-old also won two League Cups and an FA Cup before leaving Stamford Bridge three years ago. But regardless of moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid after a treble-winning season with Italian side Inter Milan last season,
the self proclaimed ‘Special One’ has already set his eye on Premier League return.
The Real Madrid manager gave an interview at the League Managers’ Association Hall of Fame Dinner.
He said: "The time I spent in England was the best time of my career so far and that's despite winning the Champions League in Portugal and Italy. In the Premier League we did great things and created history for Chelsea with a
great contribution to some great moments in this incredible football country.”
The Portuguese tactician believes the Premier League is a fantastic competition and he considers himself very fortunate to have worked in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain as a coach and manager.
He added: “The atmosphere, the intensity and the emotion in England is something you cannot compare with other countries and for somebody that is really in love with the game, as I am, this is the place where you enjoy it the most.”
Mourinho still has a home in London and loves this country immensely. He talked about how he would love to come back with his family and live there for a longer period.
Mourinho Praises Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson
The former Chelsea coach also heaped praise on Manchester United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson at the dinner.
Mourinho is widely tipped to succeed the Scot when he finally decides to call it a day on his glittering career at Old Trafford.
The United Manager has recently refuted any rumours of him retiring anytime soon and his Portuguese counterpart also believes that the 68-year-old will keep on going for many years to come, and will only stop because of health
reasons.
He wasn’t surprised at all after this admission by the Gaffer and vowed to follow in his footsteps by remaining in this profession in his late 50s and 60s. He is a fan of this game and loves football and he want to be part of this
sport for as long as possible.
Looking at Fergie and his passion and desire for the game, Mourinho wants to emulate the legendary United manager. Only time will tell if he will be the next boss of Manchester United or not but a long-time love for English football
could be the telling sign that his next destination will be Manchester at Old Trafford. He will be replacing a legend and his managerial record suggests he can be a worthy successor.
