Former Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari blames http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 of having poor attitude
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager, Luiz Felipe Scolari has accused Didier Drogba of lacking professionalism and ruining the dressing room atmosphere during the Brazilian’s stay with the club.
Scolari replaced Avram Grant before the start of the 2008-09 campaign and had a torrid time at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian FIFA World Cup wining manager of 2002 has managed as many as 22 teams but he feels that the stint with the Blues was one of his most unsuccessful one.
The 62-year-old was sacked after just less than eight months in charge of the club. Scolari could not work out the system at Chelsea and he surrendered the club’s 86 match unbeaten run at the Stamford Bridge and later on handed Manchester United the title with poor performances.
Scolari had to confront with off-field issues more than the on-field problems as several of the senior players had a falling out with the manager. However, the Brazilian revealed that the player row was not the reason behind his departure from the club.
The former Gremio manager revealed that he had to face a lot of problems with Drogba because his behaviour was totally intolerable. He was so much fed up with the striker’s attitude that he thought of planning a swap deal for him with former Inter Milan striker Adriano, but the owner did not let the deal go through.
While speaking to the reporters, Scolari said, “There were many big stars and good players but their behaviour was very different. Drogba believed he was the star in the squad and I did have conflicts with him. I wanted Abramovich to swap Drogba for Adriano at Inter because it was easier to control him than Drogba. He wanted to go to a hospital in Paris because of an injury, but I said no. Then when [Nicolas] Anelka did well in his absence and scored many goals, Drogba came back and wanted to go straight back into the team but I said no,”
He expressed disappointment with the way his Chelsea career ended and vows to return to the management in England one day.
