Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has denied reports linking former Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 with a move to the La Liga giants.
Even though Drogba signed a contract with Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua, it was reported that the Ivory Coast international was on his way to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 representatives. However, Rosell denied the claims, saying he was not aware of the club’s interest in the 34-year-old forward.
Rosell said while speaking to reporters:
“I don't know anything of Drogba. If he's here he's come on holiday or for something personal. It's nothing to do with Barcelona.”
Drogba’s representatives had a similar stance on the situation. According to an official statement by the Sports PR Company, Drogba was not headed to Barcelona and would be joining http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shanghai-Shenhua-c40497 in July as was initially planned.
The brief statement read:
“Drogba to Barca story complete nonsense. As we told you he joins Shanghai in July.”
Drogba has become a legend at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 during his eight years at the club, leading the Blues to various trophies throughout his career. The London club have gone on to win the FA Cup four times, the English Premier League thrice, the Football league Cup and the FA Community Shield twice each and the UEFA Champions League once.
It was none other than the Ivorian striker who led the Blues to their first ever Champions League trophy, by not only scoring the equalizer against Bayern Munich to take the match to the penalty shootout, but also by scoring the winning penalty with the fate and hope of the entire team resting on his shoulders.
However, Drogba did not let the pressure get to him and finished with the ball in the back of the net. It was only after he achieved everything with Chelsea that the striker decided it was time for him to move on. The reason why he is expected to have joined Shanghai Shenhua is the exceptionally healthy wage package he has been promised at the helm.
Along with being an exceptional footballer, Drogba is an exceptional humanitarian and is deeply involved with social work in his country.
