Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has confirmed he will be heading to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua on a two year deal after his contract with the Blues expired this summer.
The 34-year-old leaves Stamford Bridge after eight years and heads off to Shanghai Shenhua, where he is expected to stay until 2014 unless he is offered a contract extension. He is reported to currently earn £200,000 a week with the Chinese side, making
him amongst the highest paid footballers.
Drogba will be joining up with former Chelsea teammate http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 that Drogba was also linked with the Chinese side.
While it is no secret that the Blues were determined to keep a hold of Drogba, especially since he played a pivotal role to ensure the London side won the UEFA Champions League for the very first time. It was Drogba who scored the decisive penalty kick against
Bayern Munich to award his side the coveted European trophy.
A statement released by Drogba’s representatives read:
“I have considered all the offers I have received in the past few weeks, but feel that Shanghai Shenhua FC is the right move for me at this time.
I am looking forward to a new challenge, to experiencing a new culture, and excited about the new developments in the Chinese Super League. When Chelsea went to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/China-c8926 last year, we had a great time and I met some amazing fans.”

in the upcoming years.
Zhu Jun said in an interview:
“We have been wanting to sign Didier for a while, and are very happy that it has finally happened. He is an incredible player, who has won so many trophies in his career, we feel that his experience and ability will be a very valuable asset to our squad.”
