Former Chelsea winger Scott Sinclair scores a hat-trick to help Swansea City to a Premier League promotion
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675, the 22-year-old former Chelsea striker, scored a hat-trick for Swansea City in the Championship playoff against Reading which confirmed his side’s promotion to the English Premier League next season.
Sinclair revealed he was extremely pleased to have helped his side to the Premier League next season and to have proved Chelsea wrong.
The Blues allowed the young winger to finally leave the club permanently after about five years on loan moves to various sides.
Sinclair said while speaking to reporters:
“People wondered why I would leave Chelsea and then decide to sign for a Championship club when there was Premier League interest in me.
But what we have achieved at Swansea this season will show those people just why I came to this club.”
The 22-year-old forward continued:
“At Chelsea I wasn't getting the opportunities and I knew I had to go. And I've shown them that I have made the right move by coming to Swansea.
The aim was getting back to the Premier League and playing regularly, not being a bit-part player and sitting on the bench.”
Sinclair joined Chelsea in the summer of 2005 for an initial payment of £200,000 from Bristol http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and after just 3 appearances was loaned out to Plymouth Argyle.
He remained with Plymouth for the end of the 2006-2007 season, making 18 appearances and scoring 4 goals.
After a short return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace in the 2007-2008 season.
The 2008-2009 season saw him spend a short loan spell at Birmingham City before returning to Stamford Bridge.
His return to the London side was short-lived as he was once again loaned out, this time to Wigan Athletic.
At Wigan, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international made 22 appearances and found the back of the net twice.
Despite receiving more first team experience at Wigan, Sinclair decided he wanted to make a permanent move away for regular first team football.
Sinclair chose to go to Swansea City, a Championship side. An unusual choice at the beginning of the 2010-2011 season, which not many people understood.
However, he has done really well while at the club, helping them to a Premier League promotion in only his first season there, as mentioned above.
The 22-year-old winger made 50 appearances in all competitions this season and scored an impressive 27 goals.
The most important three goals of his career so far though, came against Reading at Wembley, which has proved that Sinclair can handle pressure situations and deliver on the big stage.
Despite having an array of stars at their disposal and eyeing plenty more in the upcoming summer transfer window, Chelsea are undoubtedly worse off having lost Sinclair.
