Former Cincinnati Bengals WR Terrell Owens raring for another NFL chance – NFL News
Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver, Terrell Owens, is raring for another shot at the pro career and has recently been spotted practising along with New Orleans Saints quarterback, Drew Brees.
Although the player has not hinted at his willingness to return to the league and set himself any timeline for doing so, some sections of media have reported the player is gearing up for an opportunity at earliest possible.
It is not clear that his former employer, Bengals, will be willing to gamble on the 11-year veteran to place him at the receiving end of Andy Dalton’s throws. This can be possible, though.
The Houston Texans are another team who do not have a healthy receivers’ situation amid lingering fitness question over veteran Andre Johnson.
It is a matter of a mere talk at the moment and a potential destination can only be determined once the player makes himself officially available in the market.
Unofficially, the player is reported to have been trying to regain entry into the NFL for over a year now. Interestingly, he has not been linked to talks with any team in the league. Also, no team has hinted at weighing the option of his signing.
He has been on and off the media radar throughout the year. According to some reports, the group of players the WR has been spotted training with include running back, Darren Sproles and quarterbacks Sean Canfield, Carson Palmer and Kyle Boller.
The latest session turns out to be quite different to his previous stints, and some commentators believe there is a greater likelihood he is landed a deal any time before preseason.
It is one of the rare practice sessions that the player has held to make his case, as officially the last time he took snaps was with Bengals in 2010.
One problem for him to attract a suitor at this time in the market is the maturity of his career. He has already played professional football for over a decade and it will be a hard choice matter for teams to bet on the old horse in the longer run.
