Former Coyotes, Sharks and Avalanche’s player Daniel Winnik signs with Anaheim Ducks
Daniel Winnik, a Canadian professional hockey player has signed a contract with Anaheim Ducks for a two-year deal, a contract which is worth $3.6 million.
Anaheim Ducks is the fourth National Hockey League (NHL) team that Winnik will play for, after Phoenix Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks.
The 27-year-old player is happy to sign with his new team and says it would be interesting to play with a team that has a mixture of talent and a depth in the line-up. He is also looking to see the new place after being in the West, Pacific Division for
three years as he said,
"It's a good mix of talent and ruggedness throughout the line-up. I was hoping to stay out West, just with the familiarity of playing all the teams, more so the Pacific Division, having been there for three years. I've always loved the West Coast, and have
been out there for so long now."
Toronto, Ontario born center was drafted 265th overall in the 2004 NHL draft by Phoenix Coyotes, after he played two years for Wexford Raiders in Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) and three years for New Hampshire Wildcats in Hockey
East (HE).
After completing his three years with New Hampshire Wildcats, Winnik was offered an entry-level, three-year contract by Coyotes, which he did not hesitate to accept.
Right after signing the three-year deal in March, he was sent to Phoenix Coyotes’ then affiliates, San Antonio Rampage, where he played few last games of the 2005-2006 season.
Winnik played 2006-2007 season Rampage and few last games of the season with Phoenix RoadRunners of East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), before he got a call from Phoenix Coyotes to play for them in NHL and after playing for them in three seasons.
He was later traded by Coyotes to Colorado Avalanche, for a fourth round pick in NHL draft and after playing for Avalanche for 80 games in first season and 63 games in the second, he was traded to San Jose Sharks for remaining part of the last season.
Daniel Winnik concluded by telling that, he wants to score more goals than he did last year and will avail every chance, as he said,
“Last year, I probably had the most chances I've had in my NHL career. Shots-wise, I had a lot and I created a lot. Hopefully, the point-production goes up and my linemates around me score a little more, too.”
