Former Cricketers critical of Pakistan’s batting – Cricket News Update
The former coach of Pakistan, Waqar Younis on Sunday took a dig at the Pakistan cricket team for their poor performances against England in the ongoing one-day series.
Misbah and his Men in Green started the 2012 season in an impressive fashion, by inflicting a 3-0 Test series whitewash over world number one Test side England, before faltering against the same opposition in the limited overs series.
Batting has been a major let down for Pakistan in the ODIs. At the moment Pakistan is trailing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 3-0 with one more game left to play.
Waqar Younis has been irked by the poor shot selection so far in the series. Speaking to media reporters ahead of the fourth and final one day, Younis said that the biggest problem for the Pakistan team is that the top batsmen are not addressing the technical
flaws in their batting.
"The batsmen keep on getting out in the same fashion,” said Waqar Younis, who stepped down as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 coach in September last year, citing family and health problems.
“Mohammad Hafeez, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890, etc, they all have flaws. They need to work them out. We need to decide on a stable batting line-up," he added further.
Another former Pakistani pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Akhtar-c90080 endorsed the views of his former skipper saying that the batsmen were repeating the same mistakes. The Rawalpindi express urged the PCB officials, selectors and team management to address the issues, and plan
ahead for the future.
"Our batting has always remained a problem and it is the bowling that has carried us through,” said the 36-year-old former pacer who retired from international cricket in March last year. “It is time for everyone to sit down and decide what they want to
do. Because our batsmen keep on making same mistakes,” he added further.
Speaking ahead of the final ODI, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 feels there is no harm in experimenting with the line-up. The match is to be played at the Dubai Cricket Stadium tomorrow, February 21, 2012.
Younis wants to see a shuffle in Pakistan’s batting order, with the out of form all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088 batting at the top of the order, as opener or a number three batsman.
The one-day international series will be followed by a three-match T20 series, starting at Dubai on Thursday, February 23, 2012.
