Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bradie James signs with Houston Texans, reunites with Wade Phillips
Linebacker, Bradie James, has been reunited with his former defensive co-ordinator, Wade Phillips, at the Houston Texans, after the management confirmed to have signed former Dallas Cowboys’ defensive player to an unspecified deal.
James played for Cowboys for consecutive six seasons with Phillips as a defensive assistant coach and he is said to be excited to have the opportunity to work with him once gain.
Except for signing of the deal, either side has not disclosed its other terms, including tenure and value.
Last year, James playing time was reduced by the team with the quick rise of Sean Lee, the second linebacker.
Now, it is being projected that Cowboys will prefer young linebackers, Bruce Carter or Dan Connor, to be placed as starters along with Lee in their revised 3-4 defensive strategy.
In the wake of the prospective change, James had foreseen a cut in his role on the starting line. Recently, he has reportedly been weighing options of exploring an opportunity of moving elsewhere.
Following expression of interest by Texans, he agreed to unknown terms of the deal with the management, as confirmed by the sides on Thursday, April 12, 2012.
As earlier noted, one of the considerations for his arrival in Houston is the opportunity of reunion with his former defensive coach, under whom he has achieved most of his success.
The year 2008 was the best season of his career as he was able to produce career-high eight sacks and three forced fumbles. It was the year in which he was also considered for the Pro Bowl outfit.
James is also among the few players who have earned great respect of teammates due to their character and personality. He was a very popular figure in the team’s locker room.
He was also considered to be the most socialised member of the team, as he would often organise team dinners in association with other defensive players.
Houston Texans are coming out into 2012 NFL season as Super Bowl contenders and the role of the players like James is going to be crucial for them to come up to the expectations of managers and fans, which are far higher for the next season as compared to
the season earlier.
Texans won the American Football Conference (AFC) South division title and claimed a playoff berth last season for the first time in their franchise history.
The triumphs have set forth higher targets and standards for the team this year, either they should be looking to improve from the previous year’s level or at least maintain it. Any achievement below the par will not count much to please the team’s fans.
