Steffan regrets not getting the opportunity of representing his home county, ‘Galmorgan’.
The domestic first-class cricket championship is currently in progress between 18 teams of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and Wales, called the LV county championship. In a match of the same championship between Derbyshire and Glamorgan on Tuesday, Steffan Jones announced his
retirement and also expressed his resentment.
“It is appropriate to end it here, I never got the chance to play for Glamorgan and that’s a shame because you can’t get anyone more passionately Welsh than I am”, uttered Jones.
The 37-year-old Welsh pacer has a tremendous bowling career with 387 first-class wickets, one third of which are for Derbyshire. Jones decided to take off from cricket but was still offered a three-year contract by his club.
Steffan, who has had a career full of injuries, preferred being the head of cricket for a Somerset school then continuing with Derbyshire.
The nostalgic Welsh cricketer said "I am very grateful for the offer made by Derbyshire and I know they did everything they could to persuade me to stay, but the opportunity of being the head of cricket at a prestigious school and returning back to my family
home is too good for me to miss."
The Welsh fast bowler further added that he could go on playing cricket till he was 40 but he preferred returning home. He also expressed his liking for the teaching job he was offered.
Jones has been a perfect example of someone always on the move. Since his debut in 1994, he played county cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802 and Derbyshire.
The passionate cricketer also cherished a few of his career highlights and revealed that representing Wales against England for the consecutive three years is a part of his career that he will always remember.
Steffan Jones also had the honour of playing with some top players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Richard-Caddick-c44567. He was a proud player of Somerset when they won the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy in 2001.
