Former Energie Cottbus defender, Takahito Soma, could well be heading back to Japan after parting ways with the German outfit at the conclusion of the 2010/11 season. The player requested Cottbus officials to terminate his contract as he wanted to move out
of the German setup due to personal reasons. The club finished the last season 6th on the table. The player might have stayed at Stadion der Freundschaft had they qualified for top division football.
Soma previously mentioned about interest from a Major League Soccer club but now has invited interest from a J-League side, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vissel-Kobe-c40902. On leaving Cottbus, the 29-year-old told that he won’t be heading back to his country and wanted to play outside Japan.

Soma’s agent also confirmed about interest from a J-League side but refrained from telling about his agent’s future. He, though, hinted at the player’s return to Japan by saying that Vissel came up with an impressive offer which is still under consideration.
The agent told that the final verdict regarding Soma will be made in a day’s time.
Kobe’s manager, Masahiro Wada, was confident about sealing the player’s signature during the summer. He assured Soma of his first team place in the line-up and also told that the club would recruit some new defenders in order to bolster their defensive wall
for the upcoming season.
The 29-year-old started his playing career with Tokyo Verdy 1969 in 2003 where he managed 40 league appearances, netting two goals during the process. He then joined Urawa Red Diamonds in 2006 and bagged four goals from 58 games. The left-back spent a year
with Maritimo and made 27 league appearances, scoring two goals in return. Soma tied knots with Cottbus in 2010 and made 21 league appearances before deciding to part ways with the club.
