http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 defender, has revealed Roy Hodgson’s decision to leave Rio Ferdinand out of the squad and lack of explanation for it has not settled in too well with him.
Hodgson seems to have deliberately left out Rio Ferdinand out of his 23-man squad picked for the European Championships. Even with the injury suffered by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395 instead of bringing in Ferdinand.
While the English manager is yet to comment on the situation, the FA Chairman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895, who is suspected to be the reason why Ferdinand
has not been included in the team.
Campbell wrote:
“The further this saga drags on the more it does not make sense and the more it undermines Roy Hodgson and the Football Association as a whole.”
Chelsea skipper John Terry was involved in an incident where he allegedly racially abused Rio Ferdinand’s brother Anton Ferdinand. The Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 defenders claim has not been confirmed, but Hodgson seemed to believe it would be in the best interest
of everyone if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 was left out to avoid any confrontation in the team.
He further stated:
“What we can say for sure is that this entire situation goes back to what did or did not happen between John Terry and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Ferdinand-c6260 last season. That is the only logical conclusion that can be drawn and I for one never bought the argument that Rio
had been left out of the original squad for 'footballing reasons'.”
According to Campbell, even though Terry is the better defender, Ferdinand should have been given the opportunity to choose whether or not he wanted to play alongside John Terry. Hodgson however, avoided the entire situation entirely by not picking Ferdinand.
The 37-year-old former Newcastle United defender felt the issue could have been tackled differently. Campbell concluded:
“At the very least Rio should have been given the opportunity to say 'no, I don't want to be in the same squad as John Terry'.”
