Former England skipper, Mike Tindall, to appeal against RFU fine - Rugby News
The former captain of England, Mike Tindall, who was fined £25,000 by Rugby Football Union after an incident during the Rugby Wold Cup 2011, which the English side lost in the quarter-final stages, has decided to appeal against the punishment. The Rugby
Players Association confirmed on November 11, that fine imposed on Tindall for breaching code of conduct was extraordinary.
Mike Tindall has been handed over a severe punishment and he has been excluded from the elite squad along with a heavy fine after a mishap in a casino. According to the details, Tindall was captured while talking to a woman in local casino in New Zealand
after receiving a stunning defeat at the hands of France.
Rugby Football Union had issued a code of conduct for the players in RWC squad and asked them to avoid chasing after women during their stay on All Blacks soil. The Rugby Football Union players had a bad record in this regard as they were involved in many
scandals during their test tour of 2008.
Mike Tindall admitted the incident took place in Altitude Bar and later on issued an apology for violating the RFU code of conduct. However, RFU decided to investigate the matter and formed a committee in this regard. After he was proven guilty, RFU handed
over a gigantic fine of £25,000.
The statement released by RPA said that it is established to help the players in odd circumstances and said that, “The Rugby Players' Association has today noted the extraordinary fine handed down to Mike Tindall following the disciplinary process after
the Rugby World Cup. Mike will be appealing this unprecedented fine as per the terms of the EPS agreement. There will be no further comment from Mike Tindall or the RPA at this time.”
Meanwhile commenting on Tindall’s breach the senior member of RFU, Rob Andrew, declared the incident unacceptable. He said that, “Mike Tindall's actions reached a level of misconduct that was unacceptable in a senior England player and amounted to a very
serious breach of the EPS code of conduct.”
Tindall has captained his country in a number of matches and has won 75 test caps during his decade long career with England.
