Former Everton striker Yakubu insists Blackburn Rovers have no relegation fears
Blackburn Rovers striker Yakubu revealed his side were not concerned about relegation after having had a terrible start to the new English Premier League season. After just three fixtures, Blackburn Rovers are in the bottom half of the Premier League table,
with just a single point. However, new arrival Yakubu was confident they would turn things around and manage a better finish than last season.

Along with defender Scott Dann, Yakubu joined Blackburn Rovers on the deadline day of the transfer window and was certain that
the club would recover when the Premier League resumed after the international break.
Yakubu said while speaking to reporters:
“There is a long way to go and when we get our first win we will be back.
We are not panicking about going down or staying up.”

Yakubu admitted that Blackburn Rovers had not had the best of finishes last season, when they had to battle relegation, but remained confident they would not improve in the current season. The 28-year-old felt their quality, which was considerably improved
with the new signings, would help them to a higher spot in the Premier League table at the end of the season.
Yakubu continued:
“They struggled against relegation last season but it would be nice to finish in the top half this season and I believe we can do it.”

him regain match fitness after recovering from an Achilles injury.
Yakubu made 20 appearances for Leicester City in the Championship in the latter half of the season and found the back of the net an impressive 11 times. He revealed the spell with the Championship side had helped regain his confidence and fitness, which
he felt would be crucial as he returned to Premier League football with Blackburn Rovers.
Yakubu said:
“The spell at Leicester did me a lot of good, it was a shame we didn't get promotion but I have great memories from there.
Now at Ewood Park, Yakubu said he wished to do his best with his new side. The Nigerian revealed he was looking forward to scoring goals and making sure his side did not have relegation troubles this season. Blackburn Rovers travel to Fulham for their next
Premier League fixture and Yakubu could be awarded his debut.
He added:
“In the next three years I just want to score goals and entertain.”
