Former F1 team boss Flavio Briatore criticises Ferrari’s 2012 car – Formula 1 news
Flavio Briatore the former boss of Fernando Alonso believes that with a car like Ferrari, currently, it is not possible to win championship title. Alonso has replied that Briatore could have said this in the beginning of the current 2012 season.
Briatore believes that Ferrari is not exhibiting impressive performances over the circuits lately therefore it would not be possible for the Alonso to win championship title in the current 2012 season.
Tuttosport quoted Briatore saying, “With a (Ferrari) car like this, you do not win the championship.”
The former boss of Alonso believes that Alonso looked disappointed at the podium of the Korean Grand Prix. He added that he should have been happy after making it to the 3rd position but it was not the case. Alonso showed an impressive performance at the
Korean GP as he started from the 4th grid and managed making it to the 3rd position yet his impressive performance could not sustain him with his championship lead. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing became the new championship leader after winning the Korean
GP with a lead of 6 points.
“Ferdi is telling lies — he is not happy at all,” Briatore added.
On the other hand the former championship leader has replied to his former boss that he could have said that earlier in the current season.
Alonso said, “He could have said all that in March as well.”
There were only two race scheduled in March, Australian and Malaysian Grand Prix. In the Australian GP Alonso started from the 12 grid yet he managed finishing the race at 5th position however he won the Malaysian GP. He started the Malaysian GP from the
8th position and finished the race as winner.
Ferrari has been criticised for its deteriorating performances over the circuit and Alonso has not been able to win any race since the Hungarian Grand Prix scheduled on July 29, 2012. The lead of Vettel is only of 6 points, Alonso can easily cover the lead
if he manages to win the Indian Grand Prix however it should be considered that Vettel won at the Indian circuit last year.
Let’s see how the Spanish driver performs at the upcoming Indian GP.
