Former FC Porto Andres Villas Boas confident about his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at EPL side Chelsea
Andres Villas Boas was appointed as the manager of English premier League side Chelsea, replacing Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian manager was sacked at the end of the last season and the Blues had 31 days of uncertainty before Andres Villas Boas was announced as the new Chelsea manager.
At only 33 years old and having had considerable success with FC Porto in the last season, there is undue pressure of Villas Boas to deliver silverware at the London club.
Especially since the Blues finished second place on the English Premier League table, without any trophies, last season under Ancelotti.
Apart from that, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 made an astronomical payment of £13.3 million to FC Porto for the young manager’s release clause.
With that amount the Blues could have bought another player to reinforce their squad, but they decided to take a gamble on Villas Boas.
While Villas Boas admitted he was excited at the prospect of managing the English Premier League giants, he insisted it was not a “one-man show” but rather a team effort.
Villas Boas said in his first press conference as the Chelsea manager:
“The main important thing that people have to reflect on is that I don't see the game as a one-man show, I see the game as the getting together of ideas and collective ideas and good players.”
The former Porto boss urged everyone at Stamford Bridge to be cooperative if they wished to be successful in the upcoming season.
He revealed he would be doing his level best to motivate the players to recreate their success from a few seasons ago.
The Portuguese manager continued:
“The most important thing is to motivate the players to get their ambitions right, to reflect again on what the club has achieved in the last six years and we need to keep this route to success.”
Villas Boas added:
“It is a clashing together of two good organisations and in the end it is the relationship between all of our players that can lead us to success, and that is what I want to work on.”
According to Villas Boas, the relationship between the players and that with the manager was extremely important, without which success could not be guaranteed.
Villas Boas was a favourite at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186, both with the supporters and the players, and ultimately went on to win four trophies in his first and only season at the club.
Including the domestic cup competitions, Villas Boas led his Porto side to the Primeira Liga title and the UEFA Europa League.
Apart from that, the 33-year-old remained unbeaten in his time at Porto. FC Porto’s league results under Villas Boas were: W, W, W, W, W, W, D, W, W, W, W, D, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, W, D, W (27 wins and 3 draws).
He revealed he was looking forward to a bright future with the London side:
“I feel confident I can respond to the ambitions of the supporters and the ambitions of the owner and the administration.”
