Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 and Wolfsburg manager Steve McLaren not interested in West Ham United job
FC Twente’s Eredivisie winning coach, Steve McLaren has ruled himself out of running for the vacant manager post at West Ham United. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 boss had emerged as the bookmaker’s favourite to replace Avram Grant. The Israeli
was sacked moments after his team were relegated to the Championship.
But in a statement issued to the media on Monday, McLaren said that he did not wish to be considered for the managerial post at West Ham.
In the absence of a manager, West Ham will play the last match of the season against Sunderland under the tutelage of Kevin keen, who has also emerged as a favourite to replace Grant as the manager. Also in the running for the vacant
post is the former Newcastle manager, Chris Hughton.
David Sullivan, the co-owner of the club had earlier accepted the responsibility of the debacle by saying that he made some bad selections during the course of time and Avram was not the best choice to replace Gianfranco Zola as the manager of the East London
club.
"Avram is a lovely person but the results sadly speak for themselves, that it was a bad selection by the board. We want a new manager that has a proven record of success. We will appoint a manager that will achieve our aims. I confidently predict that this
time next year we'll be back in the Premier League." Said Sullivan in a statement issued to the English press.
Whoever is chosen by the board, Steve McLaren will surely not be the man as he has distanced himself from the furore. The Ex-England manager is out of job after being dismissed by Wolfsburg earlier this season after having guided FC Twente to the Dutch Eredivisie
title, the season before that.
"It is very flattering to be linked with a club of West Ham's size and historic stature, also one that has tremendous fans. I wish everybody at West Ham all the very best for the future." Said McLaren about the West Ham job.
This leaves the West Ham board looking at other names on the list.
It is believed that Kevin Keen may be given a temporary charge of the club, but in the past few days the names of Sam Allardyce, Chris Hughton, Neil Warnock, Slaven Bilic have also popped up in the newspapers.
