Former Formula 1 champion Kimi Raikkonen unsure about future in NASCAR – NASCAR news
Former Formula 1 champion Kimi Raikkonen is unclear about his future in NASCAR series.
According to his contract with Kyle Busch Motorsports, the run should be big business. In fact, the money was not in for the KBM. The deal was that Raikkonen will appear in three to five races under the banner of KBM.
Kyle Busch revealed some important information about the suspected suspension of the deal and said, “The contract states that we're supposed to receive so much, and we have not. We've only received enough for these two races. It's either up to Kimi or up
to the financial people that run Kimi's business side of things and decide that they need to find the sponsorship funds in order to carry the experience for him further.”
Recently he made a practice run in Robby Gordon’s no. 7 Dodge. After the run, he disclosed his plans to pursue his stock car career in the premier class. During a press conference at the occasion, he also sounded uncertain about his plans after the next
Nationwide Series race, Top Gear 300 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
He featured in a Nationwide Series stock race car for the first time on Thursday. There are no signs of worry from Raikkonen as he has gone through the track during the truck racing series. He was kind to enough to reveal his plans to get in premier class
national series but did not explain the whole truth.
Kimi Raikkonen said, “Of course, you always have in mind to try to do it. Another thing is it going to happen or not? I don't know. Of course I am probably more keen to the road courses than anything else.”
The Nationwide Series car is technically supported by NEMCO Motorsports but the effort to put Raikkonen in the car has been done by Kyle Busch Motorsports.
Kimi Raikkonen made his NASCAR series debut in last week’s Camping World Truck Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway where he finished at 15th place. The CWTS race was won by his team owner Kyle Busch.
