Reports in France suggest that African side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Algeria-c2835 have shortlisted five candidates for the coaching job of the Algerian national side. The Football Federation d’Algerie has said that the committee will make a final decision on June 20, 2011.
Les Fennecs have been without a manager since June 5 after former coach, Abdelhak Benchikha, resigned from his post following Algeria’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of archrivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Morocco-c2961. Furthermore, the Desert Foxes are in need of a manager who can revive the
national team’s fading hopes of qualifying for the 2012 African Cup of Nations.
Though the Algerian Federation has not disclosed the names of the five shortlisted managers, the Laminak Conseil agency, which is currently acting as advisor to former France national team coach Raymond Domenech, has said that the Algerian federation has
contacted Domenech regarding a possible stint as manager of Algeria. A statement from the agency said that the Frenchman has been contacted by the federation (Algerian federation) before adding, "He has not bid for the job. However, Raymond Domenech confirms
his affection for Algeria."
Former Ivory Coast manager, Vahid Halilhodzic, has also been linked with the Algerian coaching job. The former Yugoslavia international has also revealed that he would be meeting with Mohamed Raouraoua on Friday regarding the possibility of becoming the
new manager of Les Fennecs. Currently, Algeria are at the bottom of Group D of African Nations Cup qualifying campaign and are hoping that the new manager takes the West African nation out of this tricky situation.
Last year, Algeria featured in the FIFA World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 to a goalless draw at Cape Town Stadium. However, Algeria have not been able to produce the form that took them to the World Cup
in South Africa. Currently, Algeria are at the bottom of the table with just 4 points from as many games. Morocco and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Central-African-Republic-c2868 are holding the top two spots with just two games left to play for each side.  
The 28th edition of African Cup of Nations would be co-hosted for the first time by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Equatorial-Guinea-c2892 and will start on January 21, 2012.
