Former Hamburger SV defender Joris Mathijsen reveals he left http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in frustration
Former Hamburger SV centre-back, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joris-Mathijsen-c19242, has admitted about his frustration in Germany. He believes that there were frequent managerial changes which became frustrating eventually. He admits that it was getting difficult applying new methods every
now and then, thus resulting in his decision to quit.
Mathijsen feels that the Red Shorts are still not settled and need stability, especially off the field, in order to produce better results.
The player criticized the higher officials at the club for raising a sense of disbelief amongst the players. He added that the Spanish outfit came up with an offer in the middle of all such development which was hard to reject. He admits that apart from
the frequent changes at the club, there was apparently no reason for him to part ways with the German outfit. Mathijsen reckons that Hamburg will have to come a long way in order challenge for the Bundesliga title.
The Dutch international ruled out the possibility of Hamburg qualifying for next year’s UEFA Champions League. He expressed grievances after learning about his former team’s current position - bottom of the table with three losses from four games.
While talking to the local press, the 31-year-old added, "I would have stayed at Hamburger SV if there had not been an offer like that coming in. I felt it was flattering. I wanted to start something new when I heard about Malaga's proposal. I also left
because I was finally fed up by the newest clear-out. I did not enjoy having to have one new manager every season. It is a pity I was unable to say goodbye to the supporters of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamburger-SV-c39485 after all those years. I really loved living in Hamburg."
Mathijsen spent five years at Imtech Arena playing for Hamburg. During this time, the player made a total of 145 league appearances, netting six goals in return. He made his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 debut in 2004 and so far has 72 caps under his belt to go along with
three goals.
