Former Hamburger SV player, Mehdi Mahdavikia, has expressed disappointment after being ignored by his former club, Persepolis, for the new season. The player was expecting the Red Army to consider his name for the upcoming season only to be completely overlooked.
The veteran, as a result, has tied knots with the newly promoted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iran-c2923 Pro league side, Damash Gilan.
Mehdi enthused that he had an ambition of moving back to Persepolis before the end of his career but was left frustrated at the unexpected treatment by the Iranian club. He remembered his best memories with the club and hoped he could achieve the same success
with his new outfit. The player represented Steel Azin during the last season but unfortunately the side ended up getting relegated. In search for top division action, the 33-year-old parted ways with the club at the conclusion of the last season.
Further remembering his time at Persepolis, the player added, “Persepolis is my home, but I think the team’s officials don’t treat Persepolis legends well. I’ve never talked about the financial issues with Persepolis officials but I just wanted to return
to the club where I had a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 good time. From now, I will not talk about Persepolis issue and I wish the team best.”
The Red Army Head Coach, Hamid Estili, praised the player’s abilities but believed that the veteran had run out of gas. He mentioned that Mehdi would be remembered by the club as a living legend and wished him success at his new club.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Bochum-c40880 player joined Steel Azin in 2010 and managed 31 league appearances during his one-year stay at the club, netting four goals in return. He also represented Bundesliga clubs such as Bochum, Hamburger and Eintracht Frankfurt. The Iranian
stayed eight years at Hamburg and racked up 208 Bundesliga appearances, bagging 26 goals during the process. The player made his Iran debut in 1996 and managed 13 goals from 111 games.
During his playing days in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, Mehdi twice received an award for HSV Player of the year. He was also awarded the Asian Footballer of the Year in 2003.
