After being released by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 this year, central defender Arne Friedrich is still unsure about his new team. The player is available on a free transfer and is likely to stay in Germany for the rest of his career.
Friedrich has had consistent injury problems and hasn’t been a first team regular as a result. The versatile defender was released by the Volkswagen Arena outfit early this year, following an injury to his back.
The 32-year-old admitted of his injury problems but at the same time, declared himself fit for rest of the season. He vowed to join a club soon in order to maintain his fitness levels and prove his worth in front of the German officials.
Arne also hoped of making a comeback into the German national side after going out of manager Joachim Low’s favour. He insisted on proving his fitness to the German tactician despite staying unfit for most part of the career.
While talking to Spox.com on his possible free transfer, the centre back enthused, "I will take all the time I need, and then I will decide what to do. “
The player also spoke in favour of Die Wolfe, applauding his time with at Volkswagen Arena. He hailed Wolfsburg manager, Felix Magath, on his coaching skills and wished his former club all the best for rest of the 2011/12 campaign.
Furthermore, he further shrugged off all rumours accusing him of having a homosexual affair with one of his team-mates.
Friedrich concluded the talks by saying, "I think we had a very professional time together. Neither of us need to throw dirt at one another now. I've been with my girlfriend for 10 years and I'm very happy. These [allegations] are things that we simply have
to live with."
The defender is currently available on a free transfer, having spent all his time in Germany. He is also a veteran of 82 international games since making his debut for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in 2002.
Arne’s spell with Hertha BSC was most lengthy as he spent eight years at Olympic Stadium, making 231 league appearances to go along with 14 goals.
