week.
Ashwin was gambled on by the national selectors of Team http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780. The talented spinner
astonished all by taking 3 wickets in the first innings of the Windies. The debutant went on to pick 6 more scalps in the second innings, steering his side to win by 5 wickets and lead the series of three matches 1-0.
In recognition of his marvellous bowling spells, Ashwin was given ‘Man of the Match’ award. It was a great honour for a youngster in his very first Test match.
The 25-year-old offspinner has turned out to be the blue eyed boy of all the Indian cricket fans, managers and organisers. Prasanna and Raman have also registered their admirations for him.
Talking to the media, Prasanna said, “I am impressed with the way Ashwin bowled in the first Test. His line and length was impeccable, his basics were right and with his extra height, he is able to bowl that carrom ball at a particular length.”
Raman told, “His has been the story of progressive growth. He is very positive in his attitude and he has already shown that he can adapt to high-pressure situations like he did in the IPL. In the first Test, there was a touch of nerves initially which is
understandable and he settled down to bowl well.”
Ashwin is one of those ace young cricketers who have been reared by the Indian Premier League (IPL). The spin star represents Chennai Super Kings in the high-profile domestic event that is held every year.
According to cricket experts, the right-hander, who made his International debut last year, is likely to replace Bhajji as a full-time specialist spinner in very near future. He has 35 ODI wickets to his name in 21 matches.
