Former Indianapolis Colts QB Curtis Painter to back up Joe Flacco at Baltimore Ravens-NFL News
Former Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, Curtis Painter, is arriving in Baltimore on a year contract he has reportedly signed with Ravens.
Ravens were reported on Thursday, April 19, 2012, to have been weighing a couple of quarterbacks who are into the initial stage of their professional career.
A couple of media reports disclosed that the management has invited at least three players including Painter for an exclusive workout.
There is no confirmation if the team has held the workout session, but Painter has won a year deal from Ravens. He will play for them in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) season.
Other terms of the deal including its value have not been made public by either party.
Curtis Painter’s arrival in Baltimore is well with the team’s plans of strengthening backup positions in the offence, led by QB, Joe Flacco.
Painter spent last year in Indianapolis, but his performance remained unnoticeable in Colts overall failure in the season. He was released by Colts as part of their rebuilding campaign.
Ravens are due to sign a fresh deal with Flacco, and he is expected to be back to the side on the starting line next season.
In spite of some lingering issues on the matter of his new contract, Flacco has made it to the team’s offseason voluntary workout.
For the first time, the team has taken on board a fulltime quarterbacks’ coach, Jim Caldwell, and the official has spoken of having great plans for Flacco.
Caldwell is credited for grooming Peyton Manning, one of the most successful and leading quarterbacks in the league and analysts agree with the fact that Flacco stands benefiting from the coach’s experience in the longer run.
With the hiring of Painter, the team has shown their intentions of building a strong offensive line and are packing backup positions to offer maximum support to Flacco.
Painter has played as a backup for Peyton Manning at Colts and his exposure and experience of working with the only four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) is expected to compliment Flacco’s efforts.
Flacco has recently rated himself to be the best QB in the league and it looks all set forth for him to prove true to his claims.
