Former Indianapolis Colts VP Bill Polian hopeful QB Peyton Manning will recover to high form – NFL News
It is yet again that Indianapolis Colts’ former vice president, Bill Polian, has come to the rescue of their quarterback, Peyton Manning, amid the lingering uncertainty around his recovery from a neck injury and return to Colts, claiming the player will
gain his full form.
Peyton has not played a single game for Colts during the entire 2011 National Football League (NFL) season and is yet to confirm his recovery from the neck surgery that he had in September 2011.
There is a doubt if he is able to recover to his previous health, fitness and strength. His chances of throwing ball as effectively as he used to do before the injury are especially being brought into question.
Polian, who has probably remained the only vocal support for the player during and after the past season, says he thinks the player will be able to gain his old strength and throw the ball with same force he used to do before September last year.
"It's marked (improvement) from where he was back in September," Polian said. "He threw it accurately, he threw it with a good, tight spiral, and he threw it with velocity. Generally, he looked like a pretty confident quarterback out there."
His remarks coincide with ever spreading rumours expressing impossibility around the player’s recovery from his neck injury, which was his third in a span of 19 months, and to be able to play football again.
All these rumours highlight the perspective of Colts’ owner, Jim Irsay’s statement that his final decision on Peyton’s future will be down to his health, and that he will not make any move that leaves a long-term effect on the player’s life and his franchise.
His new general manager, Ryan Grigson, has echoed the concerns of his employer about his franchise, who said that the team management will not take a decision that affects the team in the longer run.
It is yet to be seen if Polian’s latest statement influences Colts in their Peyton related decision-making, the former official has proved true to his words of the player support even that he is no more linked to the team.
He had been supportive to the player throughout the entire regular season, hoping he might be able to recover and return at some point in the season.
His unrealised hopes resulted in costing his job at the end, and he still finds the strength to go public in support of the player’s chances of recovery and return.
Similar hopes have now been expressed by the player himself, his family members and friends that he will be able to play football again, with or without the Indianapolis Colts. The deadline of March 08, 2012 now becomes crucial point in the future of his
career.
