Former Jockey Richard Fox in stable condition: Horse Racing News
The former jockey Richard Fox collapsed while shopping in Newmarket on Saturday. He was then taken to the West Suffolk Hospital which is situated in Bury St Edmunds. On Tuesday, it was reported that he is in a stable condition. Nonetheless, there is no news
of the jockey making a positive progress in the hospital.
The jockey is 57 years old. So far the doctors are not certain regarding the cause of bleeding from his brain. They suggest that it could either be due to the fall at the shopping mall or due an aneurysm, which can be related to the one that he suffered
while riding on the Newmarket gallops back in the year 1999. It has been reported that Fox has been put on a ventilator in the hospital in order to give induce artificial respiration.
His son, Dominic Fox, is also a former jockey. He was approached by the correspondents to inquire about the condition of his father. Talking to the correspondents, he was reported as saying, “He has been sedated and the plan at the moment is to bring him
round on Thursday so the doctors can carry out more tests to try and find out what the situation is.”
On the other hand, the daughter of the former jockey Fransesce will also be flowing into Newmarket from Florida to attend her father. The rest of the family has been with Fox ever since he was moved to the hospital. The Injured Jockeys Fund (IJF) is also
helping the family with all the finances.
Talking about the racing career of Fox, it is revealed that when he started the sport he was an apprentice with Frenchie Nicholson. He then went on to enjoy a career that was not very over loaded. Amongst his prominent successes, we can a list quite a few
handicap events which include the Cesarewitch Handicap, Lincoln, Ascot Stakes, Northumberland Plate and the Bunbury Cup.
After he retired from the sport of horse racing, he has featured in the movie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets where he played the role of Rupert Grint.
