Former Liverpool and Inter Milan manager Rafael Benitez wants to return to the English Premier League
Rafael Benitez, the former Liverpool and Inter Milan manager, has come forth and stated that he would love to have another go with a team in the Premier League.
The manager, who was terminated off his duties by Inter Milan before the start of the new year, has had a number of offers presented to him over the course of time since then, but it seems like nothing has really tickled his fancy.
Benitez, when giving a recent interview is reported to have said, “The priority is the Premier League, because the style is better for me.”
However, at the same time, the manager said that if an offer was to arrive, he would have to carefully judge his options rather than jump on the first ship that came his way.
Benitez then went on to add, “You can't say we will build something and spend three, four or five years waiting for trophies. You have to find the right balance, a club that can win or try to win right now but at the same time prepare for the future.”
“At this moment in time I don't have any offer. Before I did, but now I don't have any offers. I have had some offers abroad and some national teams, but I needed to stay with the family ... relax a little bit and be ready for the next challenge,” added
the Spaniard.
Despite being the butt of a number of jokes and one of the most ridiculed managers ever to grace the Premier League, it would be impossible not to give the manager credit for what he achieved at Liverpool.
He took the Reds, who seemed to be close to winning nothing, and helped them secure a Champions League crown in 2004-2005, his very first season with Liverpool. In the following season, Benitez inspired the club to an FA Cup victory over West Ham and was
also responsible for improving Liverpool's domestic league standings.
However, after a great start to his career with the Reds, things started falling apart for the manager. Although Liverpool ended the 2008-2009 season in second place, just four points off Manchester United, and the following season brought bad news for Benitez.
Ever since his terrible 2009-2010 season with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, which saw the club's worst run in 22 years, the manager is h**l-bent on making amends in England and to prove to everyone that he still has what it takes to help a team reach their true potential.
Hence, the return of the ‘Penguin’ to the Premier League would not only be beneficial to whatever team lands the manager, but would also re-introduce an ‘X’ factor to the league that left with Benitez.
