Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez says he would love to manage the Reds once again
Former Inter Milan manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that he would be jump at the chance to manage Liverpool once again.
The Spaniard was in charge of the Reds from 2004 to 2010. During his time with the Reds, Benitez led the club to four major trophies.
His crowning achievement came in the 2005 Champions League final against AC Milan. 3-0 down at half-time, the Reds looked down and out, but Rafael Benitez rallied his side during the break and Liverpool ultimately overturned the deficit to win on penalties.
For that phenomenal achievement alone, Rafael Benitez has secured his place in the Liverpool folklore. However, he believes that he is still capable of scripting more history at the club. Benitez has revealed that he would love to coach his former side again
in the future.
The Spaniard left Anfield at the end of the 2009-10 season after a conflict with the club’s then owners George Gillett and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 Sports Ventures has taken over, Benitez sees a small ray of hope that he might one day be
able to return to the Anfield dugout.
However, current Reds manager Kenny Dalglish is doing a fantastic job of rebuilding the club. The Scot is on track to being offered the manager’s chair on a permanent basis, putting a huge dent in Benitez’s ambition of taking over at the helm.
The former Liverpool boss said, “I am really proud of being the manager of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 Football Club and I would like to come back in the future. You never know (when) because (current manager) Kenny (Dalglish) is doing a really good job. It's a question of
time, you never know.”
He added, “It would be a dream. I would be really pleased to come back in the future.”
Benitez went on to add that while he would also consider a post with other clubs in the Premier League, he would never agree to coach Liverpool rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 and Manchester United.
The outspoken Spaniard added, “Fans in Liverpool know the teams I would not go (to) but I think these clubs wouldn't offer me a job. I'm a professional but obviously some clubs I would not go to, especially the big rivals of Liverpool. I won't say the names,
but it's not difficult!”
Rafael Benitez is currently unemployed, having recently been fired from his position as manager of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
