Former Los Angeles Angels' starter Dan Haren signs with Washington Nationals – MLB Update
Former Los Angeles Angels' starting pitcher Dan Haren has signed a one-year deal worth $13 million with the Washington Nationals. He was free agent this offseason and despite receiving a lucrative offer from his 2012 Major League Baseball season team, he signed with the Nationals.
The Angels almost did everything in their capacity to re-sign Haren, who showed enormous progress on the mound during the last regular season but still they could not make him agree to come play again for them.
Haren played with an attacking strategy and proved his valour. He remained consistent throughout the regular season and earned great appreciation from the entire Angels' roster. Not only the Angels top players appreciated his game but Los Angeles management was also quite pleased with the level of performance Haren showed.
He went successful with 4.33 ERA along with averaged 12-13 win-loss, 142 strike-outs, 1.29 WHIP. While his career ERA of 3.66 along with 119-97 win-loss, 1585 and 1.18 WHIP is also a great record for a nine-year veteran Major Leaguer.
“This will probably be the best rotation I've ever been a part of, I don't think there's a team better positioned to win now. It really was an easy decision for me," Haren said in an email to the Washington Post.
Haren added, “As for my health, I feel great, I felt great toward the end of last year, and I was battling my mechanics a lot but was still getting good results. I guess teams were concerned about a hip issue that I've dealt with since my time in Oakland. It never has and never will cause me to miss time."
Dan Haren is highly talented individual and now with the Nationals, he is showing optimism to start a new beginning with them.
Haren has also a very good track record of dwelling in with any new team. He started his career from the St. Louis Cardinals’ platform but as soon as he joined the Oakland Athletics in 2005, he also played with them with confidence. Haren has also played for the Arizona Diamondbacks before coming into the Angels in 2010.
