Former Los Angeles Angels’ infielder Brandon Wood gets ready for Colorado Rockies – MLB News
Los Angeles Angels’ former infielder Brandon Wood seems ready to start a new beginning with the Colorado Rockies. He recently completed a successful stint with the franchise in Arizona’s Cactus League and proved his worth to the Rockies management. The 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training also went smooth regarding Wood’s game and his potential long term relation with the Rockies.
This past offseason has been certainly proved eventful for Wood. Leaving the Angels and joining the Pittsburgh Pirates and then was traded into the Rockies surely put him in the limelight for quite some time. Eventually since he has successfully made into the Rockies franchise, his preparations for the next event are also visible now.
Recently he has also stated in the media showing complete faith in his game. He said, "It feels a little weird to be walking this way. When you go through the minor leagues and have the success I had, you don't envision yourself taking this road. I just look forward to new opportunities. You learn from everything you go through, I've been to the bottom and worked my way back up. … Nothing is handed to you. I had my opportunity with the Angels in 2010. Now I have one in Colorado. If you swing the bat, you find yourself some playing time and a spot."
According to his statement, Wood is likely to play a key role for his team in the coming event. He is playing since 2007 and now developed a good grip. Wood is a kind of player, who has spent many years in the Minor League as well. While experts believe that those players who spend their time in the Minors learning the tricks of the trade possess more capabilities to lead the way in every capacity then to many who arrive directly into the Majors.
The Rockies on the other hand, also feel that Wood’s presence will certainly give them a positive thrust ahead of next season. They know Wood has been playing relatively consistent and at the moment their team also needs this kind of player who can give their franchise a positive beginning at start of the season.
