Former Los Angeles Lakers’ forward Adam Morrison likely to sign with a Serbian club: NBA Update
Former Los Angeles Lakers and Gonzaga Bulldogs’ forward Adam Morrison is likely to sign with a Serbian basketball club Crvena Zveda. This news was confirmed by Morrison’s agent Mark Bartelstein. Bartelstein said that some “real
conversations” are certainly taking place between Morison and Belgrade based side but no deal has been finalized yet.
Morrison last played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 2009-2010 season for the Los Angeles Lakers. He was considered as a good prospect coming into the league, but could not do well at the highest level. Morrison
has played almost three years in the league so far and is now trying to explore his chances elsewhere in the world.
Morrison arrived in the NBA in 2006 when the Charlotte Bobcats selected him 3rd overall in the first round of draft. His impressive game at the collegiate level had given the Bobcats’ management enough confidence to
sign him for the next two years.
In fact, it was the legendary Michael Jordan, the then Bobcats’ manager of basketball operations, who was extremely impressed by Morrison’s skills. Morrison played solid basketball in his rookie season and complemented Jordan’s
decision. He averaged 11.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game after playing total 78 games in which he started 23.
Morrison’s career however got derailed in 2007 when he endured a severe knee injury. Morrison’s left knee got severely injured during a pre-season game against the Los Angeles Lakers when he tried to defend Lakers’ guard Luke Walton.
Although, his knee was operated and he fully healed after several months of physical therapy, but the damage was done to his career and he never played like he used to play before bearing that injury.
Morrison did not play the whole 2007-2008 season and the Bobcats traded him to the Lakers in 2009. At Lakers, he never got enough minutes and Morrison failed to make a mark.
Before coming into NBA, Morrison played his college basketball with Gonzaga University in 2005-2006 and achieved several awards. He won the Player of the Year award in 2006 along with Duke University’s J.J Redick. Morrison also
won the Chevrolet player of the year award in same year.
Now, he will be looking to display his talents in Serbia.
