Former Los Angeles Lakers star Adam Morrison heading to Serbia: NBA Update
Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Adam Morrison is looking to revive his professional basketball career and as a first step he signed a deal with a Serbian club power Crvena Zvezda recently. Morrison’s agent confirmed the news
about the contract that doesn’t include an escape clause which means that he will not be able to return back to NBA once the labour dispute is resolved.
This would however not matter much for Morrison as he struggled to get good time on the floor, before he endured a grave knee injury which cost him the entire 2008-09 season.
Before joining the National Basketball Association, Morrison was a star player for the Gonzaga University. He used to represent Gonzaga Bulldogs and was considered as one of the top talents at the collegiate level during 2005-06
season.
In that tenure, he shared the ‘Player of the Year award’ with J.J. Redick, who at that time used to play for the Duke University. In 2006, Morrison won the Chevrolet Player of the Year award and was a finalist for both the Wooden
and Naismith award.
After achieving the player of the year award, Morrison declared himself for the 2006 NBA Draft in which he was selected as 3rd overall by the Charlotte Bobcats. Morrison had a good 2006-07 season with the Bobcats and
started with an average of 11.8 points per game. He was the part of All NBA second rookie team that season. After retaining him for more than two seasons, Charlotte traded Morrison to the Lakers in the middle of the 2008-09 season.
He was traded to L.A. along with Vladimir Radmanovic and Shannon Brown. When the Lakers won the championship twice in a row Morrison was on their roster but his playing minutes received a huge hit after he joined the Lakers that
was one of the major reasons of the decline in his performance.
His career average is 7.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game after playing for average 20.4 minutes in each game. However, now Morrison is determined to make a comeback and has shown his eagerness to gradually return
to his prime.
