Former MLB star Larry Bowa shows admiration for Detroit Tigers’ Jhonny Peralta – MLB News
The Detroit Tigers’ short-stop Jhonny Peralta, who is expected to win this year’s Gold Glove Award for his brilliant effort in the field, has inspired many with his terrific performance. Not only several baseball experts, but some former Major League Baseball
(MLB) players have also acknowledged his consistent performance throughout the regular season.
Recently, former MLB star of Philadelphia Phillies’ Larry Bowa has showed his great admiration for the Tigers’ short-stop.
He said, “The big thing I look at is routine plays. What I look at is whether you make the routine play when the ball is hit to you with the bases loaded. I watched Jhonny play this season. He made all the routine plays. He was well aware of game situations.”
The vastly experienced Bowa, who has played over 2000 games at short-stop position in his professional baseball career with three different teams, knows how difficult it is to remain consistent at this particular position. He spoke very vigilantly and further
commented that every player should follow the footsteps of Peralta, who played brilliantly throughout the 2011 regular season and earned this admiration. Peralta put in a tremendous performance the Tigers during the regular season at the short-stop postion.
Bowa added that despite Peralta’s range is somewhat slightly lacking, but again, this lack in his range is okay as he always came out victorious to be at the right position at the right time in the majority of his games which have ultimately benefited the
Detroit Tigers.
Knowing the potential chances of winning this year’s Gold Glove Award, Peralta himself is very optimistic to grab this precious honour. Some two days ago, he has also spoke in the media and stated that he is hoping to win this award as he worked-hard and
literally earned this honour. The Gold Glove Award is awarded to the best defensive player at each position in each league every year.
Peralta played tremendously throughout the regular season and made few errors on the field which has automatically brought him in the limelight even before the announcement of the 2011 MLB awards.
